Fiber & Gut Health
(RD Guide)

We all need more fiber. It’s one of those “simple on paper, harder in real life” things. This cheat sheet pulls together my best fiber + gut health tips, food ideas, easy swaps, and supplement basics so you can improve digestion, feel more satisfied, and stay consistent without overthinking it.

Quick Wins
(the stuff that actually moves the needle)

If you want better gut health without making it complicated, these are the easiest “doable in real life” moves:

  • Add a fiber booster to breakfast (chia, flax, berries, oats)
  • Work in one bean-based food per day (hummus counts)
  • Upgrade one carb this week (bread, tortillas, pasta, or cereal)
  • Add a veggie at lunch and dinner (small servings count)
  • If appetite is low or you’re busy, a supplement can help bridge the gap

One note: ease into increases. Going from “low fiber” to “all the fiber” overnight usually backfires.

Fiber Types: Soluble vs Insoluble
(made simple)

Soluble and insoluble fiber do different jobs, and you want both.
Want the official fiber basics? This is a solid overview from Harvard.

How insoluble fiber works infographic explaining how insoluble fiber adds bulk, helps food move through the digestive tract, supports regular bowel movements, and promotes fiber and gut health. How soluble fiber works infographic explaining how soluble fiber dissolves in water, forms a gel-like texture, and supports fullness, digestion, blood sugar balance, and fiber and gut health.
